Wenger points to new players - but not Vieira

Arsène Wenger is targeting up to two new players before the transfer window closes – but Patrick Vieira is unlikely to be one of them.

Speaking at the launch of Arsenal’s Charity of the Season, the French manager suggested he was interested in “one offensive and one defensive player” to add to his squad.

However when asked about the much-rumoured re-signing of his former captain, Wenger replied: "Not at the moment, no.”

He went on: "We can still make do with one or two players more.

"One could be in the defensive areas, and one in the attacking areas.

"We make a few enquires for players, but we are nowhere near to signing anybody at the moment.

"Usually the transfer market only speeds up from August 26 up to midnight on August 31 – and especially in the last two hours."

Hmmm... I had the same feeling... I dont think Viera would jump back in Arsenal again... lets see what happens ahead!

I think we'll be luckily if Wenger actually buys anyone who helps to transform this team into champions.
