OFFICIAL: Damien Duff Signs For Fulham
Newcastle United winger Damien Duff has become the latest player to flee the troubled Tyneside outfit club since relegation.
Fulham confirmed they have landed the Irish winger on the club's official website stating, "Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce that Damien Duff becomes the Club’s third signing of the summer having put pen to paper today on a three-year deal."
Duff's exit has been expected since Newcastle's final day defeat to Aston Villa, which confirmed their relegation.
Gareth Barry's shot deflected off Duff to secure the win for the Villains, but the 30-year-old was the first of the Magpies troops to pledge his future to the club.
Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapatonni also confirmed Duff would not have to be playing Premier League football to keep his international career alive.
However it appears the lure of London was too strong as Fulham's offer of European football convinced Duff to make the move south.
Duff follows Michael Owen, Mark Viduka, Obafemi Martins, Habib Beye and Sebastien Bassong as one of a number of high profile players to leave Newcastle this summer.
