Refs Let Them Assault Us - Rangers' Thomson
Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson has laughed off the notion of a refereeing bias towards the Old Firm giants...
St Mirren's Garry Brady left Kevin Thomson in a heap during the Gers' visit to Love Street before the international break, ruling him out of Scotland's 0-0 draw with Norway at the weekend.
Many managers and players in Scottish football have blasted what they consider to be a bias towards Glasgow giants Rangers and Celtic, but Thomson doesn't buy it.
He says his bruised and battered body is proof that, in reality, the truth is practically the opposite of what most believe.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he laughed: "It's a myth! I didn't believe it was true when I was at Hibs and I don't accept it now.
"I pick up more than my fair share of bookings and suspensions, thanks to cautions that are harsh. Now I'm badly hurt by a tackle that cost me the chance of a Scotland cap.
"Referees certainly don't rule in favour of the Old Firm and I've got the bruises to prove it."
Thomson, who will face a race against time to be fit for the match against Hamilton next weekend, also insists that he's not been affected by his fame like some players.
Celtic pair Aiden McGeady and Darren O'Dea continually get into trouble outside Glasgow nightclubs and Aberdeen striker Lee Miller landed himself a court date after driving his sportscar at the speed of light a few weeks ago.
Demure Thomson continued: "I'm not a party animal. I like to go by the back door rather than seek attention.
"I don't think I'm a bore, though. I think I lead a fantastic life as a professional player."
