Milan Back In For Arsenal Striker Nicklas Bendtner - Report Empty Milan Back In For Arsenal Striker Nicklas Bendtner - Report

Post by Fabregas04 Sun Jul 26, 2009 4:37 am

Rumours in Italy, reported by Tuttosport, suggest that Serie A giants AC Milan have set their sights on Arsenal's young Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner.

After failing in a bid to land Brazil's Selecao star Luis Fabiano - deeming the transfer fee to be too high - the Rossoneri are now looking for a more viable option, and the 21-year-old Dane has now apparently found himself on their radar.

It is being speculated by Tuttosport - and also reported by Channel 4's Football Italia - that Milan will present the Gunners with two options, the first one being a season-long loan deal for Bendtner, similar to the one that Arsene Wenger agreed to with Milan last season for Swiss defender Philippe Senderos.

If this is knocked back by Wenger, Milan will apparently offer Arsenal a figure in the region of £10 million for their young striker.

Having just sold Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City, Wenger may be disinclined to part with Bendtner - who himself may feel that with Adebayor out of the picture, he now has the chance to establish himself as a front-line striker with Arsenal.

However, if Arsenal do consider the deal, they would probably find the first option - of a loan - more appealing. This may also be preferable to a Milanese outfit thought to be unwilling to part with large amounts of cash this summer.

Whether the possible capture of Bendtner would be enough to appease the Milan faithful, who are expecting a major coup following the sale of Kaka for €68 million, and after failed attempts for Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, is another matter. They may be expecting a more prominent target than the young Dane.

As yet, neither side have commented on these developments. The coming days should provide an indication of how substantive this transfer rumour is.

Nicklas Bendtner signed for Arsenal in 2005, and is the second Gunners player to be linked with a move to Italy this weekend; Fiorentina declared their interest in Emmanuel Eboue earlier today.
