Calf injury sidelines Diaby for Fulham clash
Abou Diaby has been ruled out of this weekend's Premier League clash with Fulham.
The French midfielder suffered a calf injury during the midweek victory over Roma and will not recover in time for Saturday. None of Arsenal's six other injured players will be fit to face Fulham but Andrey Arshavin, ineligible for the Champions League, returns to the squad.
"The main question mark is about Diaby," revealed Arsène Wenger in his exclusive interview with Arsenal TV Online. "He is certainly short [for Saturday] and we will assess him on Friday morning.
"I rushed Diaby back a little bit because he had only one or two days with the team training and I felt on the day we needed him in central midfield against Roma. I rushed him a bit and maybe it was a bit early for him. But the good side of it is that there doesn't seem to be any major damage so, if not for Saturday, he will be available for Tuesday [against West Brom.
"Everybody else looks alright to be available for Saturday. William Gallas had a kick on his ankle but he looks not to have a problem. But we have nobody else coming back."
That leaves captain Cesc Fabregas (knee), Theo Walcott (shoulder), Tomas Rosicky (hamstring tendon), Mikael Silvestre (calf), Eduardo and Emmanuel Adebayor (both hamstring) on the sidelines. Wenger expects Walcott and Eduardo to be back on the pitch first.
"Who will return first? Walcott, Eduardo and, just behind them, Adebayor," said the manager.
"It's difficult because we have to integrate Walcott into full training on Monday and we have to see how he responds with his shoulder. For him it is no injury problem, it is just getting used to playing again. Eduardo could be available for Burnley and Adebayor, just behind that, for Roma. It is too early to say."
