Juande Ramos Sacked By CSKA Moscow
Juande Ramos has been sacked by CSKA Moscow, exactly a year after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur, following a demoralising defeat at the weekend that could cost them the title and Champions League place.
The Russian giants pinned their hopes on the former Sevilla and Real Madrid boss to ensure that they finished in the top three, but Sunday's 3-1 reverse at home to FK Moscow saw them drop to fifth.
That defeat also meant that their hopes of winning the league virtually disappeared as their are only four games left and they are now ten points behind leaders Rubin Kazan.
Qualifying for the Champions League is paramount for the club though and Ramos stated upon his arrival that performing in Europe this season and making it into the competition next term was his priority.
While the club's league form means they may not appear next year, two defeats in his three games in charge have meant that CSKA could be making an early exit.
Victory against Besiktas raised hopes, but Ramos has overseen devastating losses against Wolfsburg and Manchester United and the club's board were convinced that he was doing little to inspire the squad to turn things around.
Former Kyrlia Sovetov coach Leonid Slutsky has been put in charge after Ramos' dismissal to become the club third coach of the campaign after Zico was sacked in September.
Ramos was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur on October 25, 2008 after the team won just two points from their opening games in the Premier League.
His surprise was reward was being handed the reins at Real Madrid for the season and he revitalised the club's form as they pushed Barcelona until the last few weeks of the season.
