Newcastle seek Lovenkrands deal
Newcastle hope to sign out-of-contract Denmark winger Peter Lovenkrands on a deal until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has impressed on a week-long trial after being released by German side Schalke earlier this term.
"Hopefully we can tie something up and make something permanent at the end of this week for the rest of the season," manager Joe Kinnear said.
Kinnear also denied any interest in West Ham midfielder Nigel Quashie who has been on loan at Birmingham.
Kinnear added that if Lovenkrands does sign a short-term deal the player's future at the club would then be discussed at the end of the season.
Lovenkrands spent six years in Scotland with Rangers from 2000 to 2006, where he scored 54 goals in 182 appearances.
