Everton Agree £2m Meteb Move - Agent
Egypt international Emad Meteb is will sign for Everton in a £2 million January switch, according to his agent...
25-year-old Egypt star Emad Meteb will arrive at Goodison Park in January, according to his agent, Mohamed Hamid.
The forward is currently on loan with Saudi Arabian side, Al Ittihad from homeland club Al Ahly.
Hamid affirmed: "I travelled to England a week ago to agree on the final details of the contract with Everton. We agreed on everything.
"Emad was informed about the course of negotiations and he is glad about it."
Meteb was involved in a botched swich to Championship side Bristol City at the tail end of the summer. The advantage of the abandoned move is that the player reportedly already has a UK passport and thus no snags are expected. The downside, though, is that Meteb's character was called into question.
Set to return to Al Ahly to say his goodbyes, the player ended up playing in a clash with Zamelek. Whether it was the player's decision or, more likely, he was railroaded into the match, City boss Gary Johnson didn't want to know. He said at the time, "If people have as big an influence on Meteb as it looks, it could become difficult."
Still, the Toffees have continued to track the player and boss David Moyes obviously thinks the player is well worth a £2 million punt, based on the potential for him to succeed in the Premier League, which boasts a growing number of top-notch African strikers.
